Decisions lead to consequences whether good or bad. Small events can evetually build up and cause total destruction. Mary Shelly's fictional novel Frankenstein enforces an inquisitive tone to show how Victor's thirst for knowledge lead to his family's demise. 

The reader can first sense the danger of Victor's knowledge when he says, "To examine the causes of life, we must first have recourse to death."(pg37) The obsession with death lead him to a dark place. The book shifts to a more melancholy mood as Victor's lust grows. The onset of his plummet into darkness was somewhat caused by his mother's death. With a void in his life Frankenstein turned to looking for life itself. He saw the error in his ways when he was finished with his creation." The beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart,"(pg43) Shelly shows that pure determination and work doesn't always turns out as planned. This parts highlights the fact that Victor didn't find error in his work until he was already done and it was too late. The start of his family demise beginnings when his brother is killed by the monster. "William is dead! That sweet child whose smiles delighted and warmed my heart."(pg58) The pain Victor felt when he understood that he was responsible caused him to regret his works. Shelly novel shows that life and death go hand and hand. Victor's actions caused a downward spiral to hurt and pain. Readers take that one can directly influence their own pain.
